Yuma Theater Presents “Just Like Us”

The Arizona Western College theater will present a piece that is sure to resonate with audiences. “Just Like Us” is based on a book about four Mexican-American girls who come of age in the American Southwest.

Yuma is a regular stop on the tour circuit for tribute bands and impersonators. You may swear you’re hearing Tina Turner or Michael Jackson.

Performing Arts

A variety of local and traveling shows fill the stage at the Historic Yuma Theatre. The venue hosts original film screenings, community theater productions, Saturday children’s matinees, Arizona Historical Society tours and films, jazz festivals, art symposiums, education workshops and special events and presentations in connection with Downtown Main Street.

Yuma Community Theater presents a modern retelling of Aristophanes’ classic comedy Lysistrata. The play explores the endless wars of men and women with humor that is as relevant today as it was in 411 B.C.

The Yuma Arts Center includes the Historic Yuma Theatre, four art galleries, a pottery studio, black and white photography dark room, multi-purpose classrooms and artist studios. In addition to its educational programming, the Yuma Arts Center is home to the Yuma Symphony Orchestra Association and the Yuma Ballet. The Yuma Art Center is committed to building a healthy, vibrant arts community in the Desert Southwest. The organization is funded by grants, private contributions and memberships.


In addition to performing arts, the Yuma Theater also shows movies. Located in the Modesti neighborhood, this contemporary theater offers special amenities such as online ticketing, stadium seating and available listening devices. It also has an in-theater cafe that serves food and drinks. Its movie selection includes the latest releases. It also showcases a variety of independent films. The Village Jazz Series host band, Yuma Jazz Company, returns for a second season of combusting salsas, bossas, and sambas infused with spicy YumaJazz energy. Also returning is kinetic duo Jason & Elle.

The Yuma Music Series features a wide range of musical styles from country and crooners to rock and Broadway. It is also a regular stop for tribute bands and impersonators who can get you so close to Tina Turner or Michael Jackson, you’ll swear you’re listening to the original.
